| Two for Teesside |
|
Not one but two new farmers’ markets are being launched on Teesside by NEEFM members this weekend On Saturday (27th March), Stockton Farmers’ Market is reborn – now run by Lorna Jackson (who manages Saltburn Farmers’ Market) on behalf of Stockton Borough Council. It is in Wellington Square on the High Street, near the M & S Food Hall and Debenhams. Lorna says: “A fab new farmers market is springing up in Stockton this Saturday. With 15 stalls currently booked selling everything from fresh game to quilted cushions, freshly cooked paella to traditional hot water pastry pies, traditional cheese to homemade cakes, Stockton is the place to be.” And then on Sunday (28th March). Northern Dales Farmers Markets – who run the Hartlepool farmers’ market – will be bringing their stalls to Teesside Retail Park in Thornaby. The new Thornaby market will be running monthly (next market Sunday 25th April) while the Stockton market will run bimonthly (next market 29th May) through the summer. And together with the regular markets in Darlington, Guisborough, Hartlepool and Satburn, they offer a real opportunity to the residents of Tees Valley and south Durham to try out local food. |
