July in North East England sees .....

Soft fruit – strawberries galore and early raspberries

Seasonal veg include peas, beans, broccoli, new potatoes and early tomatoes plus salads and herbs of all varieties

The first of the 'new season' honey - though this year's heather honey won't be ready until September at the earliest

The hens, ducks and geese are laying well with long hours of daylight - plenty of free range eggs to be had.

And the new lowland spring lamb is at market - though the hill lamb is still in the fields

And of course - there are always the great Northumbrian cheeses, ham, bacon, sausages - not to mention conserves and chutneys.
